Mectalent has acquired a Modula Lift automated vertical tray warehouse. The acquisition of the automation system, and thereby the improvement of internal logistics, are part of Mectalent's continuous development process to ensure the high quality of products and operations.
"The acquisition of the automated storage became timely, as we were in a situation where the use of the warehouse was no longer functional considering the changing and growing needs of our customers, as well as the needs for the functionality of internal logistics. The automation system lays the foundation for us to comprehensively develop the operation of our warehouse and serve our customers better", explain Mectalent's purchasing and logistics engineers Sauli Harju and Suvi Saukkoriipi.
With this investment, Mectalent is improving the utilization of storage space. The floor space needed for the storage of small materials decreases when the 5.5-meter-high automation system effectively utilizes the height of the warehouse. With the introduction of the automation system, for example, the shelving and picking of small materials becomes easier, as items can be stored centrally in one place.
"After a careful study, we decided to acquire the Modula Lift model, which could be cost-effectively modified to meet our specific needs. The selection of the automated storage system was a joint decision by our entire logistics team. All the individuals working with the automation system were involved in the selection, which ensured the best outcome", says Tiina Luiskala, Mectalent's Purchasing and Logistics Manager.
